While I’m still enjoying my recent espadrille purchase (which proved to be as comfortable as I’d hoped, admirably holding up to a weekend stomping around New York City), I’m working hard on my other summer shoe obsession – lightweight oxfords. The oxford pump has long been a favorite of mine as a work-appropriate yet stylish shoe. For summer, I have my fashion heart set on a low-heeled shoe in a breathable fabric as a nice alternative to sandals. Something that will look cute with a skirt and polish up a pair of shorts.

Bass Jolene linen oxford.
I thought I’d found my shoe with Bass’s Jolene linen oxford, but I’ve spent most of the past two week exchanging sizes like Goldilocks romping through the Three Bears’ closet. The size seven was so large my foot slid back and forth with every step. Yet the six and half proved so small that I had to curl my toes under to jam my foot in to it, Cinderella-step-sister-style. Since they don’t make anything between a six and a half and a seven, it doesn’t look like I’m going to find that “just right” pair.
So I’m back on the oxford prowl. Here are a few possible contenders. I admit the last one isn’t quite like the rest, being a pump rather than a flat. But it’s just too adorable to resist!
